PM Vishwakarma

i) Scheme Type
  • Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India.
  • Launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
  • Aims to support traditional artisans and craftspeople engaged in family-based trades with end-to-end assistance.
  • Implemented through a holistic framework encompassing skill development, toolkit incentives, concessional credit, digital transactions and market linkages.
ii) Objectives
  • Recognize and strengthen traditional artisans and craftspeople.
  • Improve the quality, productivity and reach of traditional products and services.
  • Provide skill upgradation and modern toolkits to beneficiaries.
  • Facilitate easy access to collateral-free credit and financial assistance.
  • Promote digital transactions and market integration.
  • Preserve and promote India's rich heritage of traditional crafts and occupations.
iii) Eligibility Criteria
  • The applicant should be engaged in one of the notified traditional trades under PM Vishwakarma.
  • The minimum age of the applicant should be 18 years.
  • The applicant should be self-employed and engaged in family-based traditional occupations in the unorganized sector.
  • Only one member from a family shall be eligible under the scheme.
  • Government employees and their family members are not eligible.
  • Beneficiaries of PMEGP, PM SVANidhi or MUDRA who have already availed loans exceeding the prescribed limit during the last five years are generally not eligible.
iv) Terms & Conditions
  • Registration and verification are carried out through Common Service Centres (CSCs).
  • Beneficiaries are required to undergo Basic Skill Training.
  • Advanced Skill Training may also be provided.
  • Credit support is available in two tranches subject to satisfactory repayment.
  • Benefits under the scheme are transferable only to eligible beneficiaries.
  • Implementation is subject to guidelines issued by the Ministry of MSME from time to time.
